Often patients who are considering a membership at a Direct Primary Care practice, (like here at Direct Doctors) assume that in order to benefit from the unlimited access and direct relationship with their physician, they must also fork out a lot more money. Fortunately, that is not true. Whereas, concierge practices charge higher fees and still bill copays and insurance, Direct Primary Care doctors do none of the above. In fact, a number of our patients save substantial amounts of money every year as Direct Doctors’ patients. Take this example of relatively healthy Smith family of 3: As members of Direct Doctors, the Smiths were not only able to lower their monthly out of pocket insurance premium costs, but also to reduce all of their co-pays & co-insurance bills for medical visits. Because Direct Primary Care practices don’t charge per-visit-fees and can handle much more in one office (i.e. thyroid management, depression care, sick visits, and acute illnesses), the Smiths were able to save over $1000 in their first year as members despite paying the monthly fee to be part of the practice.
If your family pays a high monthly premium for “Cadillac” or even mediocre health insurance; or if your employer is shifting more costs in the form of higher copays and deductibles to you and your family – it may be time to sit down with the physicians at Direct Doctors and find out whether you could save not only money, but time, as a Direct Doctors patient. The facts presented in this blog are real but the names have been changed to protect the family’s privacy. Comments are closed.
