Your average physician’s office cannot accommodate the needs of the 2000+ patients that they have per doctor in the normal day. If the doctor is full or not in the office that day, they will often either recommend that you come in and see a non-physician practitioner or go to the local urgent care where you can walk-in anytime you need it. At Direct Primary Care practices, like Direct Doctors, we do our best to be available to you when you need it. While we can’t guarantee 24/7 in-person access, we can be sure to get back to you when you have an urgent need. Our patients text, email and call us when they have an urgent concern and they hear back from their doctor directly within hours (and usually within minutes!). When scheduling allows and the need requires an in-person assessment or treatment, their doctor directly schedules them to come in for what they need. Amid COVID, this has been super helpful for our patients. When a patient has a cold and doesn’t know what to do, we can discuss remotely what the best course of action is and help direct them to a COVID test fairly quickly to help guide next steps. We keep our panel of patients to 300-500 per physician, unlike the national average in a regular Fee-For-Service practice of 1000s per doctor. This lets us be sure we can offer what we’re recommending to patients without long wait times on hold with a receptionist. We call/text/email our patient back directly and we arrange their urgent visit when needed. We can also handle many urgent requests remotely (i.e. that annoying UTI is back and you need the antibiotic again - you don’t have to have a visit!). To find out more about how direct our care is and how we practice primary care differently, check us out at www.directdoctors.org.

It helped when you mentioned that the average physician’s office cannot accommodate the needs of the many patients that they have per doctor on a normal day. My aunt mentioned to me last night that she is planning to find a primary care doctor as she wants to be sure that she will be given treatment as soon as possible if needed and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article and I'll be sure to tell her that it will be much better if we consult trusted primary care services as they can answer all our inquiries.

Thank you for explaining that you can walk in anytime to local urgent care if your doctor is full. This got me thinking to opt for urgent care clinic for my minor medical needs. It's best if I can find an urgent care near my place that is only a few drives away.

I never knew that direct Primary Care clinics, such as Direct Doctors, make every effort to be available to you when you want assistance. I never thought that it would be like this, I'll share this with my aunt. Thank you for the information about primary care physicians.

I'm glad that you talked about the importance of urgent care for the people who need quick access to help. After moving to our current area, my wife is hoping to find an urgent care clinic as she had a hard time going to the hospital and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article I'll be sure to tell her that we can consult a well-known urgent care center as they can answer all our inquiries.

While we cannot promise in-person availability 24 hours a day, we can assure you that we will respond as soon as possible if you have an urgent need. When our patients text, email, or contact us with an urgent problem, they receive a direct response from their doctor within hours (and often minutes!). When scheduling allows and the need for an in-person examination or treatment, their doctor makes an appointment for them.
