Dr. Emiko Ishihara, DO
(accepting new patients in East Providence for Primary Care - sign up now for start date 11/30/26 ) Dr. Emiko Ishihara is a board-certified family medicine physician with a passion for lifestyle medicine and whole-person care. She attended Des Moines University for medical school, then completed a dual residency program in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine with a Master’s in Public Health in Population Medicine at Loma Linda University in California. Loma Linda is home to one of the world’s five original Blue Zones and her training there emphasized the powerful role lifestyle and community play in long-term health. Dr. Ishihara also specializes in addiction medicine, geriatrics, and aging well at home.
Dr. Ishihara lives on an intergenerational family farm in Tiverton, Rhode Island, with her parents, brother, wife, children, and lots and lots of chickens. When not doctoring, parenting, or washing dishes, she enjoys practicing yoga, meditation, and qi gong. When she has more time she aspires to learn the accordion. Dr. Ishihara is excited to join the exceptional team of physicians at Direct Doctors in Rhode Island and looks forward to partnering with patients on their wellness journey.
